Not all ships will have all positions available
Chief Officer The Chief Officer (CO) or Chief Command Officer (CCO) is second-in-command after the captain and a member of ExCom. As head of the Bridge Department, he/she coordinates the Bridge crew and oversees operation of the Bridge, ensure smooth flight operation whether in combat or navigation.
First Pilot / Flight Pilot The First Pilot, Flight Pilot or Pilot-In-Command (PIC) is the main controller of the helm. While long distance travel are usually handle by the autopilot AI, an experienced pilot is crucial for combat maneuver, going in and out of FTL travel as well as docking / landing and taking off. Candidates for the First Pilot seat usually requires at least 4,000 hours of logged flight time in order to even be considered.
Second Pilot / Combat Pilot The Second Pilot, Combat Pilot or Co-Pilot (CP) main responsibility is to assist the First Pilot during operation. On smaller ships, the Second Pilot would be in charge of the various weapon and shield systems, hence the name Combat Pilot. However on large battle ships such as the SFS Hercules, these systems would be too complex to be handled by just one person, in which case they would be operated by the Military Department instead.
Relief Pilot Most ships will have one or two senior members of the Bridge crew who act as Relief Pilots, who can take over control of helm when necessary.
Chief Navigator The Chief Navigator's (CN) primary responsibility is to be aware of ship position at all times. Responsibilities include planning the journey, advising the Captain or CO of estimated timing to destinations while en route, and ensuring hazards are avoided. The navigator is in charge of maintaining the aircraft or ship's star charts, planetary maps, and navigational equipment.
Assistant Navigator / Lookout Officer The Assistant Navigator or sometimes known was Lookout Officer help the Chief Navigator with charting courses as well calculations. They operate the ship's radar, reading heat signatures, identifying nearby ships, bases, objects and potential hazards via long range scanner.
Communication Officer The Communication Officers operate the PA system (for internal communication) as well as broadcasting system (for external communication). They also maintain contact with any crew members going on off-site missions. The ability to speak multiple languages is highly recommended for this position.
Bridge Admin Assistant An administrative role, the Bridge Admin Assistant act as a personal assistant to the Chief Officer, handling paper works and act as liaison between the Bridge department and other departments.
Bridge Crewman Includes all Able Crewman and Cadets reporting to the Bridge department
